Hello, reader! Welcome to my arts and humanities blog! I hope you will enjoy my postings on books, films, and cultural events I happen to attend in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and elsewhere. Reading is my favorite thing to do so I will probably emphasize books more than the others. More free time is spent curled up on the couch with a good book than is probably healthy. What genre books do I read? I read fiction but don’t limit myself to only fiction. Right now I am hooked on mysteries. Yes, I read Nancy Drew when I was young, but never kept reading mysteries such as Agatha Christie’s or the current crop of thrillers until recently. I also enjoy biographies and autobiographies, true crime, and books by authors that reflect today’s society with a dose of humor (Anne Lamott and David Sedaris, for example). Humor usually always enhances a story!
Sometimes I get hooked on one author for months at a time. I might stumble upon a book at the library or bookstore and then I want to read every book that particular author ever wrote. Then I start reading autobiographies about that author. If the author is famous, then that list can be endless. Bear with me if I get obsessed with a particular writer.
Please feel free to comment on and email me about anything on my blog. I have been a member of a couple of book clubs in the past and love to hear what others think about what I have read. How others interpret a particular story and what someone else enjoys about a book only makes the experience richer for all. OK, let’s get started!
