Kabul Beauty School

I was supposed to be at my second visit to “Chick Lit” last night, where the topic of discussion was to be Kabul Beauty School by Deborah Rodriguez. But instead I was at home reading the rest of the book from the third chapter. I finished it at about 11:15 pm! A busy weekend hindered my normal reading. I was intrigued with the true story of an American hairdresser from Michigan who goes to Kabul (yes, that Kabul, the one in Afghanistan) to help with relief work but decides to open a beauty school and become the second wife of a Saudi Arabian businessman. I can’t wait for Stephanie, my fellow coworker and Chick Lit friend, to bring the discussion questions to work this morning so I can find out what she and the others thought of this book! You have to admire this brazen lady who was simply fearless. Once again, I am reminded of how lucky I am to live in the United States and be an American.
