One of my coworkers and her family got to attend the 21st Annual Beyond the Rainbow Luncheon and Fashion Show on Friday, April 24th, at the Hilton Anatole. The children who participate in this fundraising fashion show are all cancer patients or survivors of cancer. Jacob Norvell has been undergoing treatment for a type of leukemia for nearly 3 years:
This fundraiser is very important as the proceeds from this event go towards the Children’s Cancer Fund, a fund whose money helps with research and treatment programs at Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center.
What a great cause two of our Dallas Cowboys heroes have sponsored for many years with many other players and sports celebrities involved. To learn about the Children’s Cancer Fund or donate to this worthy cause, click here.

Doesn’t it just break your heart to see these sweet children affected by this horrible disease. I’m glad Jacob and his family enjoyed a fun-filled evening.

Locally we have The Jimmy Fund which benefits the Dana Farber Cancer Center … it sounds similar to the program at the Children’s Medical Center.

Best wishes to your co-worker for her son’s healing.

    Dawn,

Yes, the children are so young and innocent. I went to http://www.jimmyfund.org/ and was awed by the fact that the fund has been around since 1948 and is entwined with baseball, one of my long time passions. Go Red Sox (except when they play the Texas Rangers)!

Jacob is doing very well right now and all his family and friends are very grateful.
