Woods, Jonathan

Earlier on “Q” day, I wrote about Quincy Perkins and his film that will be presented at Cannes in the Short Film and American Pavilion sections in May. Swingers Anonymous, the short film, was a short story first and was featured in the book Dallas Noir, published Akashic Books and edited by David Hale Smith. Jonathan Woods is the noir author of the story “Swingers Anonymous.” As does Quincy, Jonathan lives in Key West, Florida, having moved there from Dallas a few years ago. Before Woods’ life as a noir writer, he was a corporate attorney. A graduate of McGill University, Woods also has degrees from the New England School of Law and New York University School of Law.

Woods and his painter wife, Dahlia, like to travel to the locales where the stories are set.

Take a look at some of Woods’ book trailers. They are artworks themselves:

Also, following are some of the wonderful covers of Woods’ books:

Woods is also one of the principals behind New Pulp Press, a crime publisher that he and two others are now running from Key West. You can find out more about New Pulp Press HERE

As a former attorney, he must have so many behind the scenes stories and ways to formulate plots. A thoroughly enjoyable post, Denise. You’ve opened my eyes to such great art this month.

Aww, that is so nice of you! I am enjoying your posts, Denise. It’s a tough Challenge, requiring not only work on our own posts but lots and lots of visits. This year, I’m not even visiting half as much as last year, staying mostly within friends, and it shows in the stats, but oh, well … I’m am barely hanging on. Just a few more days, then a well deserved break, then we blog as we please. 🙂

And thank you, too, Hilary, for all of your nice comments. I think I counted that I had never heard of 9 of the artists or authors I wrote about this year. I love looking up and learning about new people to read/study in the future. Cheers!
